I had a great experience learning with Pete. He is not only a great instructor but a great guy as well. He is so calm which helped me stay relaxed if I ever made a mistake which is what to look for in an instructor. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Peter has been a fabulous driving instructor, I really enjoyed my driving lessons and he helped me achieve a pass first time! As well as learning all the appropriate test routes and manoeuvres, Peter has set me up to be a safe and calm driver.

Learning to drive is something I was nervous to start and had been putting off, but when Pete and his family were down in St Ives on holiday and visited my parent's shop, we met by coincidence. I started driving in the September of 2021 when returning to Exeter for university  and I immediately felt at ease with Pete. He has a very encouraging and patient approach and I will really miss our weekly lessons. Thanks Pete!

I not only did I do it for me, I did it for the 2 most important people in my life, Harvey & Evie, my children. They didn’t have a clue I was even learning, so their faces tonight when I told them, I will not forget & those faces are banked in my memories🥰

I can't thank Peter Bates my driving instructor enough, he is absolutely amazing, so patient and the encouragement & support from him is the best I could of asked for, Im gona miss our lessons, from the quirky random noises I made when I wasn't sure what the hell i was doing at the start, to kicking myself for getting summit slighlty wrong, when I finally knew what to do! The random conversations we had and the music that would pop on in the car at the start of the lesson, made it all the more enjoyable and again putting me at ease.

My journey with you getting to this end goal has be brilliant and you have always put me at ease 😊 I'm not as young as some starting out, but shows with the right support & instructor anyone can do it.

Thank you to all my friend's & family that kept it a secret, from the kiddies.

I’ve just passed my driving practical test first time after a few months of lessons with Peter. Overall I can say that the preparation for the test was superb and it allowed me to take it with full confidence. This matched with peters light hearted character made the whole experience very enjoyable. I would wholeheartedly recommend Peter’s lessons to anyone who would like to learn how to drive and would like to gain independence

I will recommend Peter hundreds of thousands of times, he taught me to drive as safely as possible, he taught me how to manage the steering wheel, the clutch, the gear change, the directions and most importantly how to drive as safely as possible. I know all instructors teach you to drive safely, but not all instructors teach you to feel good when you drive, to feel relaxed and to drive as if you had been doing this all your life. Not to mention the schedule, having a small child my schedule was always busy, but Claire and Peter did their best to be able to do driving my lessons. They offered me safety and comfort for the program. Now I can drive any car just as well because of it.

“Pete took me on shortly after my first test failure and numerous lessons with previous instructors over many years. 

Pete was a warming and welcoming face every lesson, always giving verbal explanation or physical demonstration on any facet of driving you may struggle with. 

Pete has the patience of a saint and will spend as long as you need, ironing out anything that would cause you to fail. 

I unfortunately had to move out of the area before passing under Petes’s guidance but I really couldn’t recommend a better instructor. 

I would especially recommend Pete if you’re a nervous person or a slow learner. Even if you just need some refreshments, he’s your guy as he is so knowledgeable of the ways of the highway!

I also found prices very reasonable, this can be hard to find with some instructors, especially if they’re the business like Pete.”

I would highly recommend Pete as a driving instructor. I was a very nervous driver and Pete had helped me over come this and allowed me to become a confident driver. Pete’s lessons allow for you to have a say in what you would like to work on and are adapted to help you feel safe and confident on the road . Overall, Pete is kind and approachable with a good knowledge of the best way to pass your driving test and has good tips and tricks to help you remember the key parts to driving.
